This Yoga Practice Will Allow You a Deeper and More Restorative Sleep

This Yoga Practice Will Allow You a Deeper and More Restorative Sleep

The benefits of yoga are many, from transforming our physical and mental wellbeing, increasing muscle strength, flexibility and enhancing overall vitality while balancing hormones and improving our mood. But there is one practice of yoga that has been said to offer a deeper more restorative sleep, introducing Yoga Nidra.

Yoga Nidra means Yogic sleep and it is designed to relieve tension — physically, mentally and emotionally. It has been said that 45 minutes of Yoga Nidra is the equivalent of 3 hours sleep. One of the most effortless forms of meditation, practiced laying down as you would lay down for sleep — or for savasana at the end of a yoga class.
The practice includes a body scan, breath awareness and visualisation. The sequence of events is designed to put the body to sleep while the mind is left with a trace of awareness — in that twilight zone between wakefulness and sleep (sometimes referred to as the hypnagogic gap). It is a healing place for the mind to rest in for extended periods of time and is the reason we feel so restored after Yoga Nidra.
Meet Hannah Crerar. Hannah is passionate about the body-mind-soul connection. She offers a modern approach to self discovery and loves to share the convergence between spirituality and science.
Hannah’s yoga practice plays a significant role in her life’s journey. Hannah’s innate curiosity and intuition-led lifestyle means she is continually immersing herself in all things body-mind-soul. Her strong spiritual practice is complemented by a solid understanding of the science behind why it all works. Self-love begins with self-awareness and Hannah is on a mission to bring a greater sense of awareness to as many people as possible.
Her offerings focus on the deeper layers of self, combining modern understandings of the human psyche alongside knowledge of ancient wisdom traditions. Her work empowers and liberates people with self-awareness tools to create a life in alignment with their authentic self.
